
Hoisting the National Flag at home as a part of Independence Day: follow the Flag Code-2002 rules
Hyderabad: The Union Government has made it clear that National Flag should be hoisted on every house as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. Government distributed National Flags from house to house as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
There are certain rules for hoisting the national flag or using the National Flag in any other way an action plan has been formulated to celebrate Independence Day grandly.
The provisions of the Flag Code-2002 shall be followed while using the National Flag. If the flag code is violated in the way of using the flag, punishments and fines will be imposed as per the law. Insulting or disrespecting the National Flag against the rules is punishable with up to three years in jail and a fine.

The National Flag should be treated with the utmost respect. Torn, crumbled or old flags should not be used for hoisting under no circumstances. There should be no other colours or inscriptions except the three colours and the Ashoka Chakra. Saffron should be on the top and green on the bottom. Saffron should be on the left side when displayed vertically. Under no circumstances should an inverted flag be flown.
No other flags should be equal to or taller than the National Flag during the hoisting of the flag. The National Flag should not be disrespectfully thrown on the ground. The National Flag should not be used as a decoration.
In public meetings and gatherings, the flag should be kept on the right side of the stage to the left of the audience only. No decorations or flowers should be placed on the flag. Flowers can be used in the centre of the flag. The flag should not be draped over objects and buildings. Finally, should not sew as a garment.
