Baghdad: Thousands of mourners marched in the streets alongside militia vehicles in a solemn funeral procession on Saturday on the death of Gen. Qassem Soleimani, the head of Iran’s elite Quds force.

The procession began at the Imam Kadhim Shrine in Baghdad. The mourners many of them are in tears chanting “No America, No America” and “Death to America, death to Israel”. Thousands of mourners are also chanting “America is the Satan” who participated in the funeral procession.

The mourners mostly men in black military fatigues, carried Iraq flags and the flags of Iran-backed militias that are fiercely loyal to Soleimani. Iraq Prime Minister joined the mourning procession in Baghdad. Iran Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and President Hassan Rouhani visited the residence of the slain leader to offer their condolences to his family.
