
Lt. Gen. Saini to be Army Vice- Chief
New Delhi: Lt. Gen. S.K. Saini is the next Vice Chief of Indian Army. He will take charge on January 25th. He is currently posted as Chief of Southern Command.
The Vice Chief post was vacant after Lt. Gen. Manoj Mukund Naravane became Chief of Army Staff. Lt. Gen. Saini is an alumni of Saink School, Kapurthali and the National Defense Academy, Khadakwasla. He was commissioned into 7 JAT in June 1981. He has commanded his battalion, a mountain brigade, a counter insurgency post in J &K and corps in the Western theatre.
His staff experience includes tenanting the appointments of brigade major of an infantry brigade, GSOI (operations) of an infantry division and director Military operations at the Army Headquarter. He has also been brigadier general staff of a corps deployed in J & K, DDG in the perspective planning directorate. He has also been a weapons instructor.
