New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi said justice has prevailed, on the hanging of Nirbhaya convicts on Friday. He also said that his senior cabinet colleagues and women groups welcomed the hanging of four convicts in Nirbhaya gang rape and murder.

Justice has prevailed. Modi in his tweet said that it is of utmost important to ensure dignity and safety of women, without mentioning Nirbhaya’s case. The Union Women and Child Welfare Minister Smriti Irani said that the hanging will send out a strong message to criminals that they cannot escape the law. She also said that she seen Nirbhaya’s mother struggle over the years, though it took time to get justice but it has been done finally.
