Shut hostels in Hyderabad: AP students queued to police stations

Hyderabad: Due to impose of 21 day nationwide lock down in the country from 24th midnight caused inconvience to the students and the working people who are staying in the hostels and boarders. The hostel managements in Hyderabad declared a closure of mess and hostels from 24th onwards.

 

Most of the students are from Andhra Pradesh state. They want to go to their native places due to declare of complete lock down, they are unable to meet their daily food, shelter and other necessities. They have no conveyance facilities to go to their native places due to restrictions not to come outside the homes. Hundreds of people were seen standing in queues outside police stations across Hyderabad as authorizes began issuing passes to those who wished to return to their hometowns, as the 21-day nationwide lockdown began on Wednesday.

Andhra Pradesh Municipal Minister Botsa Satyanarayana negotiated the issue with Telangana Municipal Minister KTR on Wednesday and urged to provide hostel facilities to the students who are studying in Hyderabad. The Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary Neelam Sawhney also negotiated with Chief Secretary of Telangana in this regard and to resolve the crisis due to lock down. As per the request of Andhra Pradesh Government, Minister KTR directed the Municipal authorities and the State DGP to initiate steps to open the hostels and boarding rooms to the students who belongs to Andhra Pradesh.

The Kukatpally and S.R. Nagar police issued passes to the students in a large numbers on Wednesday and made arrangements to go to their native places. At the state borders, the AP police refused to allow the students, which are coming from Hyderabad. After the intervention of higher officials, the police allowed them into AP and sent them to isolation wards. The Telangana Government also instructed the border police not to allow the persons who are coming from Chennai and Bengaluru to Hyderabad due to lock down of Covid-19.
