Modi Took Aerial Survey in West Bengal and Odissa Today

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to visit West Bengal and Odissa on Friday to view the devastation done by the severe cyclone storm Amphan. Prime Minister Narendra Modi visits first West Bengal state in the morning, afternoon he will visit the Odissa. Modi took an Aerial survey in West Bengal and Odissa to view and assess the damage caused by the Amphan cyclone. PM Narendra Modi’s arrival is expecting at 10:00am to Kolkata, it is the first state visit of PM, after announcing the lockdown on March 25th due to Corona Virus.

On the request of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamatha Benarjee to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday to visit the severely damaged state due to Amphan cyclone. She also urged Prime Minister to help the state with humanity to re-build the state from the loss of Amphan cyclone. The severe cyclone Amphan took 72 lives, and damaged crores of rupees assets in the state, and also as well as uprooting the trees, falling the telephone poles, and damaged low lying areas dwelling houses and also 5000 trees in the state.

 

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamatha Benarjee announced Rs. 1,000 Cr for the rehabilitation works, damages caused by the Amphan cyclone in the state. She also announced Rs. 2.50 lakhs exgratia to the family members of the deceased persons. We spoke about the devastation and he assured all help. I would also request the Prime Minister to visit and carry out a surveillance of Sunderbans and adjoining areas,” she said after a meeting at the state secretariat.

The cyclone, which weakened into a depression on Friday, was further reduced to a well-marked low pressure area over North Bangladesh and the neighbouring area. “It is very likely to continue to move north-northeastwards and weaken further into a low pressure area during next 12 hours,” the IMD had said on Thursday evening. The cyclone hit Bengal and Odisha at a time when it is already struggling to fight the transmission of the novel Covid-19.
