48 Employees of Raj Bhavan Tested Positive, Governor Tests Negative for Covid-19

Hyderabad: Governor Tamilzhi Sai Sounder Rajan in a tweet said that she tested negative, 48 employees of Raj Bhavan have tested positive for Covid-19 on Sunday. Raj Bhavan has about 200 staff working at the vast premises.

As per the official sources, 28 police battalion personnel of Raj Bhavan and 10 members of the administrative staff tested positive, while samples of another 10 family members of administration staff also turned positive. Atleast 20 was admitted at the government Aaryurveda Hospital for treatment.

The police personnel were sent to isolation and treatment at a special police facility. The first few members of the special battalion tested positive in the RT-PCR tested and following which, as part of contact tracing, a total 395 tests with antigen and RT-PCR was conducted since Saturday, including the staff and their families.

The governor Tamilzhi Sai volunteered to test herself and later in the evening she declared on twitter her test result. Early diagnosis not only is to protect us but also others. Don’t hesitate, test yourself, and motivate others. Follow four Ts i.e., tests, trace, treat and teach, she said in a tweet. All 48 employees stable and were responding to meditation.

Tests will continue on Monday and Tuesday on remaining staff at the Governor’s house. Though physical activities and visiting hours have drastically come out since lockdown, there would be stricter rules imposed now, said officials. The governor has been conducting reviews virtually. The regular disinfection programs will be identified further, a source said.

Telangana total Covid-19 positive tally stood at 34,671 with fresh 1269 cases on Sunday. The death toll also increased to 356 after eight more patients succumbed to the Covid-19. After 1563 patients were discharged from hospital on Sunday, total recovery stood at 22,482 while there are 11863 active cases in the state. But testing’s SA a slight dip on Sunday compare to the previous days with 8153 samples being checked.
