Hyderabad: Golconda continues to be in the grip of vector borne diseases. The situation has deteriorated to such an extent that most people living in localities within the area are perennially suffering from water borne diseases due to polluted water bodies in the surroundings.

   Every day hundreds of patients are approaching the Golconda area hospital for treatment. Inspite of regular inspection by GHMC and HMWS&SB officials, as well as local MLA Kausar Mohiuddin, the lakes in the surrounding areas are still highly polluted. Mohammed Rafi, Risala, Golconda said that huge funds have been spent on cleaning the lakes, but authorities have been unable to remove water hyacinth completely which provides an ideal breeding ground for mosquitoes. In our area, Shah Hatim Lake and Katora Houz are the main source for breeding of mosquitoes.
