Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed won Noble Peace Prize for 2019

Oslo: Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for 2019 for his efforts to end his Country’s long running border conflict with Eritrea. Norwegian Noble Institute also praised the important reforms that Abiy Ahmed launched at home since April 2018.

    Chairwomen of Norwegian Noble Institute Berit Reiss Andersen said that some people may consider it too early to give him the prize, but “it is now that Ahmed’s efforts need recognition and deserve encouragement”.  His efforts for a peace agreement between Ethiopia and Eritrea have ended longest-running conflict. Eritrea longtime leader visited Addis Ababa and restored communication, transportation links between two nations restored for the first time in two decades.
