Telangana Government gets Rs. 960 crores revenue for selling Applications

Hyderabad: The Telangana Government has earned Rs. 960.64 crores through the application fees which is not refundable for wine shop licences. The Telangana Government earned huge revenue through selling of application forms for wine shops.

     The Telangana Government received 48, 032 applications for 2, 116 wine shops across the state which has been a record. The Government has increased the application fee from Rs. One lakh to Rs. Two lakhs and sold more number of application than the last time. The businessmen who have been selling liquor in neighbouring state have also applied for liquor retailing licences in the Khammam and Nalgonda districts.

     The Special Chief Secretary of the Revenue Department Somesh Kumar clarified that if the selected candidate is not willing to take the licence or is not present to take the licence he will be liable to pay the Government a sum of Rs. Five lakhs as a penalty.
