
Gujarat police arrested TMC National Spokesperson Saket Gokhale
New Delhi: Gujarat police arrested TMC National Spokesperson Saket Gokhale on Tuesday in connection of false allegations linked to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Gujarat’s Morbi after the bridge tragedy.
According to police sources, he posted fake RTI documents on alleged false allegations against Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit in Morbi bridge tragedy. The police arrested him a day after in a dramatic way in Rajasthan. He was detained late last night in Jaipur for tweet allegedly spreading fake news on PM Modi.
The police arrested Gokhale on the complaint of BJP leader Amit Kothari in Ahmedabad. He will face charges like forgery, which could lead to five years in jail. The December 1st tweet cited a RTI reply that revealed the PM’s visit to Morbi cost the Gujarat government ₹ 30 crore, far more than the compensation given to victims a total compensation of ₹ 5 crore. This was flagged as fake by the Government’s fact-check unit the same day.
