Ahmedabad: The Gujarat Government made elaborate security arrangement for US President Donald Trump’s visit here on Monday. About 10, 000 police persons from different parts of Gujarat have been deployed at strategic locations in Ahmedabad.

The massive police deployment is in addition to officials of the US Secret Service and India’s elite National Security Guards (NSG) and Special Protection Group (SPG) who would also be guarding the US President’s visit. The secret service agents along with other US security personnels have already arrived with their equipments and vehicles in at the least four cargo planes during the last one week. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Trump will take part in a 22 Km road show from the Ahmedabad International Airport and then proceed for the ‘Namaste Trump’ event at the Sardar Patel Cricket Stadium in Motera area.

The gathering in the stadium expecting more than one lakh people to be present, the stadiums full seating capacity is 1.10 lakh. Police will be using the anti-drone technology to neutralize any suspicious drone on the route, said police. According to the police, an anti-sniper team of the NSG will also be stationed along the road show route, starting from the airport till the Motera Stadium via Indira Beach. The entire route has been scanned by the bomb detection and disposal squad. Police and other security agencies have also conducted rehearsals on the entire road show route using over 100 vehicles. Along with police personnel, 25 IPS officers, teams of the RAF, State Reserve Police, Chetak Commando and anti-terrorist squad are also deployed at strategic locations.

Before the Trump’s arrival, atleast four C-17 Globe Master Cargo planes of the US Air Force have landed at the Ahmedabad International Airport with security and communication equipments. Trump’s official helicopter ‘Marine One’ and a mammoth SUV-like vehicle, the giant SUV, which could be part of Trump’s cavalcade during his 22 Km long road show on February 24, known as WHCA road runner. WHCA stands for White House Communications Agency.
