
620 Kms anti- CAA human chain in Kerala on Republic Day
Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Government staged a protest against the CAA with a “Human Chain” of 620 Kms on Sunday on the occasion of Republic Day. The Kerala Government passed a resolution against the CAA in the State Assembly.
This resolution sent to the Central Government. The Kerala Government’s human chain started from Kasargod, the Northern Part of the State to the Southern Part of the State Kaliyakkavilai. Lakhs of people were participated in the human chain beside the road. The newly wedded couples also participated in the human chain. The state Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and his family members also participated in the human chain at Palayam in Thiruvananthapuram. The human chain was formed in the issue of defiance and solidarity against what they say is a divisive, discriminatory law.
The human chain was organized by the ruling CPI (M) led Left Democratic Front (LDF). The day also saw Latin Churches across Kerala reading out a Pastoral Letter against the CAA claiming the Act was not just affecting one particular community and calling for observing January 26th as the day to protect the Constitution of the Country. Mosques under the Wakf Board and the Latin Churches hoisted the National Flag and read out the Preamble of the Constitution. The LDF claimed around 60 to 70 lakhs people participated in the human chain.
The human chain was formed at 4 pm following which the Preamble was read out. Senior CPM leader S. Ramachandran Pillai was the first link of the human chain at Kasargod, while M.A. Baby was the last link at Kaliyakkavilai.
Kolkata: The People of Kolkata formed a human chain with hand into hand on Sunday on the occasion of Republic Day in a protest against CAA. The people from different communities held hands to form an Eleven Kms chain, stretching from the North to the South of the city and read aloud the Preamble.
The same are staged in Delhi’s Shaheenbagh and Assam also.
