CPI, CPI {M} staged dharnas against the Andhra Bank merger

Vijayawada: CPI, CPI {M} leaders in Andhra Pradesh staged agitations on Tuesday at Vijayawada and in Kadapa on the decision of Andhra Bank merger in Union Bank. The people of Andhra Pradesh are opposing the state owned Andhra Bank’s merger.

  The Congress veteran leader Bhogaraju Pattabi Sitaramayya established Andhra Bank at Machilipatnam in 1923.  Now the Andhra Bank is having four crore customers with 90, 000 branches in the country. Andhra Bank is having a patent of two Telugu states. The merger of Andhra Bank with Union Bank is losing its identity. The people of Andhra Bank are not willing to sacrifice the Andhra Bank’s identity in the name of merger.

   The CPI, CPI {M} leaders and activists staged a dharna infront of the Andhra Bank Zonal office at Vijayawada, and also staged dharna at seven roads centre in Kadapa district head quarter. The Andhra Bank employees also protesting the merger of the Andhra Bank.
