
Bengal doctor 1st health official to die of Covid- 19
Kolkata: West Bengal Health services Assistant Director Dr. Biplab Kanti Das Gupta died in Kolkata on Sunday morning due to Covid- 19 pandemic. He was tested +ve a week ago, he is the first doctor to die due to Covid- 19 pandemic.
He was admitted in a hospital in Kolkata last week due to Covid- 19 test +ve. His wife also tested +ve and is undergoing treatment. Chief Minister Mamata Benerjee in her tweet paid tribute to the medical officer. In her tweet she said that “His sacrifice for the cause of ailing humanity will ever be in our hearts and will make our COVID warriors fight the deadly Covid-19 pandemic with even greater determination.”
The West Bengal Doctors’ Forum also condoled the doctor’s death and wished his wife a speedy recovery. It also raised concerns over limited resources available to health professionals in the state, posing risk to their lives.
