Covid- 19 cases spreaded 140K to 60K in six days

New Delhi: The Covid- 19 infection cases in India steadily rising over 3K for day, since four days. The Covid- 19 count crossed 60K on Saturday, taking just six days to reach the mile stone after going past the 40K mark on May 3.

The death toll from the Covid- 19 reached a highest 2K on a day when 113 fatalities were recorded, the second highest single day toll so far. Maharashtra accounted for 42% of all fatalities on Saturday, with deaths surging to 48, the highest in any states in a day, Mumbai is alone 27. On Saturday the new cases recorded with 3, 171, the country’s Covid- 19 count stood at 62, 915 as per reports from states. Maharashtra also crossed 20K cases, nearly equal to the next three states put together.

As many as 11, 065 people tested +ve for Covid- 19 in Maharashtra on Saturday. In Gujarat recorded 394 new cases in a day and the case tally reached to 7, 797, the second highest in the country. Ahmedabad alone recorded 280 new cases and 20 more deaths. The AIIMS Director Dr. Randeep Guleria who is on the visit to the state to monitor the situation, said late hospitalization of Covid- 19 patients due to fear of stigma and higher prevalence of comorbid conditions i.e. diabetes, hypertensions, heart and kidney disease were the key reasons behind the high number of Covid- 19 deaths in Gujarat. The Tamil Nadu recorded 6, 535 cases so far.
