New Delhi: The Election Commission announced Delhi Assembly elections will held on February 8th and counting will take place on February 10th.

The Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora on Monday said to the media persons at New Delhi that the EC was committed to fair polls. The EC is going to conduct Delhi Assembly elections with 13, 000 polling stations, and nearly 90, 000 officials would be deployed to ensure everything goes smoothly.

The model code of conduct will come into force with immediate effect, said EC. The poll body also reminded the Government that no state-specific schemes could be announced during the budget speech on February 1st. the term of the 70 member Delhi Assembly ends on February 22nd and a new Government must be in place before the date.

BJP is going to face first polls in the National capital after the Lok Sabha elections 2019, which the party wins all seven Parliamentary seats in Delhi. The AAP Chief and Delhi Chief Minister Kejriwal want to retain power once again in this election. His party won 67 seats out of 70 in Delhi Assembly in 2015 elections.
