
Former Telangana Home Minister Naini Narashima Reddy passes away
Hyderabad: The former Telangana Minister, TRS leader Naini Narashima Reddy passes away on Wednesday night, undergoing treatment to Pneumonia at Apollo Hospital in Hyderabad. He survived with wife Ahalya, son Devendar Reddy and daughter Samatha Reddy and four grand childrens.
Naini Narashima Reddy is well known as a Trade Union Leader since 50 years. He served as a Trade Union leader in VST, IDL, HMT and Modern Bakery etc, and also he started his career as Trade Union leader with the pushing cart vendors, Hamalis and other down trodden labours.
He entered into political career in 1958 as an activist of Socialist Party. He served as office bearer, office joint- secretary and office secretary. He contested in 1978 general elections in Musheerabad Constituency against Cong (I) candidate, Labour Minister T. Anjaiah and another rival from Reddy Congress T. Sanjeeva Reddy.
He defeated the two giant politicians with a margin of 2, 167 votes majority. He also elected as MLA from Musheerabad Constituency in 1985 and 2004. He served as Minister in the cabinet of late Dr. Y.S. Rajashekar Reddy and again in 2014 in the cabinet of KCR as the first Home Minister of Telangana State. Naini also detained 18 months in jail in 1975 emergency period.
Naini Narashima Reddy played key role in first time Telangana agitation in 1969 and the second phase of Telangana agitation since 2001 to 2014 as an associate with TRS Chief KCR. Naini Narashima Reddy is hailed from farmers’ community in Nalgonda district, Chandampet Mandal of Neredugommu. Telangana Chief Minister KCR directed the CS Somesh Kumar to conduct Naini’s last rites with the Guard of Honour.
