Four killed in pro, anti-CAA protest in Delhi

New Delhi: Pro, anti-CAA protesters clashes continued on second day at North East Delhi area turned into violent, a head constable, four people and 50 persons injured. The police deployed several para military and Delhi police personnel to bring the situation under control.

The protesters set fire on house, shops, vehicles and a petrol pump in this area and pelted stones also. Police fired tear gas shells and also restored to lathi charge as clashes broke out between pro and anti-CAA groups at Jaffarabad, Maujpur, Chandbagh, Khurejikhas and Bhajanpura. The police conducted flag marches and prohibitory orders initiated to bring the situation under control. A head constable Ratan Lal (42) died after sustaining injuries during stone pelting at Gokalpuri.

Three other civilians succumbed to injuries in the clashes, said sources. And also 50 people with injuries go to hospital for treatment. Atleast 11 police men were injured while trying to quell the protests.  Two CRPF personnel were also injured. According to the sources, the violence in the capital appears to have been orchestrated by some for publicity as it comes at a time when Trump is visiting the country. The situation in the capital Delhi was fully under control and sufficient forces were deployed on the ground, said Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla.

All schools in North East Delhi will remain closed on Tuesday in the wake of the violence. In Maujpur, pro and anti-CAA protesters indulged in stone pelting and atleast three vehicles were set fire. Even closed shops were vandalized. At Bhajanpura Chow a fire tender was damaged by the protesters.
