Washington: ISIS Chief Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Qurashi killed himself and his family members with suicide bomb blast in Syria, when the US military forces raid his residence on Thursday.
US President Joe Biden said that the leader of the ISIS had been taken off the battlefield during a raid by US forces in Syria. Biden in a statement said that at my direction, US military forces in Northwest Syria successfully undertook a counterterrorism operation, last night to protect the American people and our allies, and make the world a safer place. Thanks to the skill and bravery of our Armed Forces, he added.
According to a US senior official, Qurashi had blown himself up during a nighttime airborne raid by US Special Forces in Northwestern Syria. The bomb Qurashi detonated also killed members of his own family, including women and children. Biden said that no US servicemen were wounded during the operation.
