Jagan, KCR discussed on Godavari water issue, State Re-organization Act

Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and Telangana Chief Minister KCR decided unanimously to supply Godavari water to Krishna River Basin and to resolve all issues regarding assets and liabilities and 9th and 10th Schedules of the AP Re-organization Act as early as possible.

The two Chief Ministers met on Monday at Pragathi Bhavan at Hyderabad, discussed at lengthy time of six hours and decided to pursue a give and take policy in all matters for the larger benefit of the people of the two states. AP CM Jagan Mohan Reddy arrived at Pragathi Bhavan on Monday afternoon, Telangana CM KCR received him with a warm welcome. They had lunch and started the meeting.

They discussed on issues of mutual interest as well as on the national political situation. The meeting was held in a very cordial atmosphere and in a spirit of mutual cooperation. The two leaders were discussed a lengthy on the diversion of the Godavari water to Krishna Basin, water availability in the Krishna is not uniform every year. On several occasions there has been no water available in the Krishan at all. The farmers in Rayalaseema in AP and Mahaboobnagar and Nalgonda districts in Telangana incur losses as the crops do not get the required water.

The two CMs decided that water from the Godavari river be diverted to the Krishna Basin when required. By utilizing the Nagarjuna Sagar and Srisailam projects, the Godavari water can be diverted to the Krishna with less expense.
