Jagan meets Modi: explained three capitals, scrapping of Council
New Delhi: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence in New Delhi on Wednesday. AP Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy discussed with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on all pending issues of State Re-Organization Act, his Government implementing Government schemes, Special Category Status to the State and other issues.
Modi and Jagan Mohan Reddy had a meeting nearly one hour and forty minutes. AP CM urged the Prime Minister to direct the Union Law Ministry to initiate the next course of action on the core issues of abolishing the AP State Legislative Council and shifting the Principal seat of the Andhra Pradesh High Court to Kurnool. He also urged Prime Minister for Administrative sanctions of Polavaram revised estimate of Rs. 55, 549 Cr an immediate release of the revenue deficit of Rs. 18, 969 Cr. AP CM narrated in detail his objective behind the three capitals proposal in detail. He also urged the Modi to ensure that Parliament approved the State Assembly’s recommendation to abolish the bicameral house before the end of the ongoing budget session itself.
According to an official press release from the Chief Minister’s office he explained the idea of his three capitals and the objective of achieving the balanced development. He also informed Modi that the Assembly had passed a resolution, fixing Vishakhapatnam as Executive capital, Amaravathi as Legislative capital and Kurnool as Judicial capital. He also brought to the notice of the Prime Minister that how the opposition party creating obstructions in the Council by using as a tool to the Government business.
He also urged Modi to instruct the Ministry of Home Affairs to approve the Disha Bill, passed by the AP Assembly. The Ministry of Home Affairs had already sent back the bill, raising queries. A Central approval is a must for Disha Act to come into force. He also reiterated his appeal for Central Government’s support in establishing the Kadapa steel plant, Ramayampatnam port and development of Inland waterways.
