KCR said guide farmers to grow fine variety of rice

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao instructed officials to guide farmers to cultivate crops in tune with food habits of people and crops that are in demand. He held a high level review meeting with the officials on Wednesday, on preparation of new Agriculture policy.

He also instructed officials to prepare a report and submit it by May 5th. He also said that after studying about crops other than paddy, which would be beneficial to farmers. He said that to encourage farmers to grow fine variety paddy and construct godowns and cold storages. Farmers are going in for coarse variety, as cultivation period is less but majority of people eat only fine rice variety, he said. The variety has great demand in other states and countries too. He said that farmers should be educated on this fine variety.
