Kolkata: The West Bengal Government has roped in Nobel Laureate Abhijit Benerjee to head a universal panel of experts to tackle the economic crisis in the state over the ongoing total lock down due to Covid- 19 pandemic.

The West Bengal Chief Minister Mamatha Benerjee on Monday said that she will inform that his name was announced in the panel, she would convey her decision to him personally. She is also agreed to entrust a TMC MP to attend the all party meeting on April 8^th by PM Modi, a day after getting his call. She disclosed her Government’s feature plan that we are setting up a global advisory board for Covid- 19 response policy in West Bengal.

She also said that she want the world famous people known for their talent and wisdom to be its members. It will be policy decision body which will help the Chief Minister. She also said that we have selected four or five members for it. Noble Laureate Abhijit Benerjee is among one of them, he will be the head of it. He is our pride. The next member is Dr. Swaroop Sarkar who worked as WHO Regional Director and worked with ICMR earlier. We will get more such experts on board.
