Mamatha will not attend NPR meeting on January 17th

Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamatha Benerjee said that if the BJP wishes to implement NRC in Bengal, it can happen over my dead body. She said today at Kolkata that the Bengal will skip the Centre’s meeting on the NPR which will be held in New Delhi on January 17th.

She also said that let the Centre pull my Government down if they like. She stopped the process of NPR in West Bengal through a formal order and also said if the BJP wishes to implement in Bengal, it can happen over my dead body. Speaking in public meeting in South 24 Parganas district Mamatha Benerjee said that I am you Peheradaar (guard), don’t fear fake rumours, conspiracies, it is not going to be easy to implement NRC in the State, until I will be as Chief Minister of the State.

The Union cabinet approved a proposal to upgrade the NPR in December, the will be conducted in every state except Assam. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah clarified that there is no talk of countrywide NRC as of now. The NPR has already been put on hold in Kerala. The Chief Ministers of the Congress-ruled states have also declared that they would not implement it.
