
Floods in Himachal Pradesh: 18 died
Shimla: Nearly 18 persons died in Himachal Pradesh on Sunday, with heavy rains and floods. Heavy rains caused for the fallen of the landslides in Kulu, Srimar, Solan, Chamba districts.
Himachal Pradesh Government announced holiday to the schools and educational institutions in Kulu districts on Monday, due to the severe floods. The fallen of landslides incidence eight persons died in Shimla, two each in Srimar, Kulu, Solan and Chamba districts according to the official sources.
Non-stop rains in Himachal Pradesh water stagnated on the roads and entered into the houses and buildings. A bridge near Kulu town washed away due to floods. The Sutlej Jala Vidyut Nigam’s major hydro projects released surplus water to the downstream as a pre-precautionary measure due to the heavy flood water in the Sutlej area.
The IMD cautioned the forecast that there is a heavy rainfall may occur in the coming 24 hours, the state officials alerted.
