Birla Will File Nomination for the Post of Lok Sabha Speaker

New Delhi: BJP proposed the kota-bundi MP Om Birla (57) is the nominee of the NDA alliances Lok Sabha speaker on Tuesday. He is the two time MP from the parliamentary segment in Rajasthan. The election for the speaker’s post is due to be held on Wednesday. The contestant candidate Birla is supporting with 353 MPs in NDA camp alone and some non NDA parties like the BJD, YSRCP and AIADMK also backing his candidature.

         Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari had proposed the name of Om Birla for the post of Lok Sabha Speaker said Parliamentary affairs minister Prahalad Joshi on Tuesday.

       Om Birla’s name was supported by both NDA parties and some non NDA alliances like YSRCP, BJD, AIADMK. The JD (U), Siva Sena, NPP, Mizo National Front, the Akalidal and the LJP signed the proposal for Mr. Birla’s candidature.
