The Jammu and Kashmir state reorganization bill 2019 and the revoke of Article 370 and 35A passed in the Rajya Sabha on Monday. 125 members voted in favour of the bill are NDA parties, BJD, YSRCP, TRS and TDP and Mayawati led BSP and Aravind Kejriwal led AAP. Congress, TMC, NCP, SP, the left parties and also by its NDA ally the JD (U) members 61 opposed the bill. Now the Jammu and Kashmir splitted into two Union Terrorities Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh.  President Ram Nath Kovind also issued a Gazette Notification in this regard and it will come into force with immediate effect from 5th August 2019.    

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Government revoked the Article 370 and splitted the state of Jammu and Kashmir into two Union Terrorities. The Union Government made Jammu and Kashmir a Union Terrority with the state assembly, the second Union Terrority Ladakh is purely under the control of Central Government.  

   The Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced the Government’s decision on Jammu and Kashmir’s split into two Union Terrorities and scrap the Article 370 which is providing Special Status to the Jammu and Kashmir and the Special Citizenship clause 35A. The BJP’s bold step to revoke the Article 370 and 35A is a poll promise of P.M Narendra Modi.

  While announcing Union Home Minister in the Rajya Sabha said that Jammu and Kashmir was heaven on earth and remains so. And also he blamed the opposition parties, they are adopting vote bank politics for the continuation of temporary clause. The BJP Government asserted that it needed a strong political will to look behind the vote bank politics over the issue.

   Despite strong opposition by the Congress, TMC, NCP, SP, the left parties and also by its NDA ally the JD (U), the Government proposed resolutions and Jammu and Kashmir state reorganization bill was supported by the NDA parties, BJD, YSRCP, TRS and TDP and Mayawati led BSP and Aravind Kejriwal led AAP in the Rajya Sabha. The bill got 125 votes in favour and 61 votes against the bill.
