“Jallikattu” is India’s official entry to the 93rd Academy Awards

New Delhi: India’s film “Jallikattu” has been announced as India’s official entry to the 93rd Academy Awards, which will be held in April 2021. The film, which is an entry in the category of International Feature Films, was unanimously chosen from among 27 entries across various languages.

This film was written by S. Harish and R. Jaya Kumar, the atmospheric film tells the story of a buffalo running amok in a village and how the villagers get together to hunt it down, while revealing the tensions that erupt during the event. The Director Lijo Jose Pellissery, who is known to tread the unconventional paths of film making often, is someone  who has been offering new movie experiences time and again to viewers through his films.

In an earlier interview with media, he said, “I made a film which I was passionate about making. That is the biggest return to me”. Surely, getting picked as India’s official Oscar entry for 2021 is an honour Lijo and his team will cherish for a longtime to come. The film starred by Antony Varghese, Shanti Balachandran.
