Kolambkar administered the oath with 285 members

Mumbai: Pro Tem Speaker Kalidas Kolambkar administered the oath of 285 newly elected members of 14th Maharashtra Legislative Assembly on November 27th in a special Assembly session.

  The Pro Tem Speaker Kolambkar announced Babanrao Pachpute, Vijaykumar Gavit and Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil as the presiding officers for administering oath of the members in the house. Presiding officers Babanrao Pachpute and Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil were the first to take oath followed by caretaker Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. According to the sources of the Vidhan Bhavan two members Sudhir Mungantiwar (BJP) and Devendra Bhuyar (Swabhimani Paksh) are not take oath on November 27th. AIMIM member Mohammed Ismail and independent member Mahesh Baldi took oath after the adjournment of the house. They reached Assembly lately. Ismail arrived late as he got stuck in traffic, while Baldi, the MLA from Uran in neighbouring Raigad district, was held up as the ferry boat which he boarded to reach Mumbai from Alibaug, broke down.

   As per the Raj Bhavan sources, the Speaker’s election will conduct after swearing in ceremony of Uddhav Thackeray Chief Minister of Maharashtra on November 28th. Earlier in the morning, NCP MP Supriya Sule greeted party MLAs Ajit Pawar and Rohit Pawar at Vidhan Bhavan entrance before the commencement of the session. She said to the media that this day comes with a big responsibility.

   Ajit Pawar and Chhagan Bhujbal (NCP), former Chief Minister Ashok Chavan, Prithviraj Chavan (Congress) and former Speakers Dilip Walse Patil (NCP) and Haribhau Bagade (BJP) were among the members who took oath early. NCP members greeted Ajit Pawar with thumping of desks when he went to the podium to take oath.     Aditya Thackeray, Siva Sena leader who was newly elected from Worli, first time was congratulated by members of the Assembly without the party basis. He went up to all senior members to greet them in the floor. Dhiraj Deshmukh (Congress) and Rohit Pawar (NCP) were also among the newcomers who took oath.
