Hyderabad: The Government would soon come up with a new scheme for farmers, said Chief Minister K. Chandra Sekhar Rao on Friday. KCR inaugurated a pump house Markook village in Siddipet district to release water to Kondapochamma Sagar reservoir which is part of Kalleshwaram lift irrigation scheme.

After the inauguration he said that he will share some good news for farmers in the state soon. This scheme for farmers could be on the lines of ‘Rythu Bandhu and Rythu Bheema’. This scheme is going to be unique in the country and even in the world, he said. Financers for the scheme have been worked out and other details will be finalized in a week, he added. The Chief Minister said the Government is giving top priority to the irrigation sector. The Agriculture sector has touched Rs. one lakh crore now. He said that he thank all the people who had given their land for irrigation projects.

He also said that the people who were vacating their villages due to the construction of this project will be given jobs in the food processing industries locally. On the new agricultural policy, there has been overwhelming response for his regulatory forming proposal by passing resolutions by the villages to abide by the decision of the Government, said KCR. It is only “Niyantarna” (Regulatory) and not “Niyantrutva” (Dictatorial) cultivation as been alleged by the opposition parties, he added. The Government has been implementing farm input subsidy scheme ‘Rythu Bandhu’ since 2018 where every farmer gets Rs. 5, 000 per acre in each agriculture season (Khariff and Rabi seasons).

Apart from these, the Government has started implementing ‘Rythu Bheema’ insurance scheme for farmers. Under this scheme a farmer’s family will get Rs. Five lakh insurance in case of any unforcing event, he said. Telangana has also been giving free power to agriculture sector 24X7. He believed these schemes had helped in retain power in the 2018, said CM.
