
Police lathi charged on protesting nurses at OU
Hyderabad: Hyderabad Police arrested nurses who protesting against their termination from their jobs on Friday. The police took the nurses to the Narayanaguda PS and other police stations.
On Friday morning the nurses reaches Osmania University and took a protest. As soon as the police came to protest spot and were allegedly police used brutal force and lathi charge.
The protesting nurses went to Gandhi Bhavan on Friday and approached the Congress leaders for their help. Later the Women Congress leaders extended their solidarity to the protesting nurses. The protesting nurses gave slogans against the Government along with Women Congress leaders.
Then nurses along with Women Congress leaders were protesting by walking peacefully raising slogans when suddenly a large group of policemen began rounding us up and using barricades to block our movement. As per the eye witness, many of us ran away but a few nurses got injured in the altercation and were shifted in cars to a nearby hospital.
The terminated nurses started their protest two days ago. The Government terminated nearly 1640 Government nurses were abruptly terminated from the jobs which they had got on an outsourcing basis in March 2020. The protesting nurses demanding reinstatement to their jobs for having served during two waves of Covid – 19. The nurses are also protesting as they haven’t received salaries for three months.
