Pulwama attack Imran’s major achievement: Minister Fawad Chaudhry
Islamabad: Pakistan Federal Minister Fawad Chaudhry admitted for the first time of Pakistan’s role in the February 14th, 2019 Pulwama terror attack on Thursday said the Jihad’s strikes was a major achievements under the leadership of Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan.
He told the National Assembly that the attack was a success of both the treasury and opposition benches. Though the statements was a response to a jibe from PML- N leader Sardar Ayaz Sadiq that Pakistan’s military caved into an Indian threat of retaliation if captured IAF pilot wing Commander Abhinandhan was not returned, Chaudhry ended up admitting the terror strike was Pakistan’s doing. Sadiq had claimed a day earlier that the Imran Government had released Abhinandhan fearing an imminent attack by India. The IAF pilot was captured after an unsuccessful Pakistani attempt to bomb targets in India after the February 26th, Balakot strike.
“Humne Hindustan Mein Ghuske Unko Maara”. Our success in Pulwama is a success of this nation under the leadership of Imran Khan, he said. Both opposition and Government are all part of that success, Chaudhry said in response to Sadiq’s claim. He seemed to be borrowing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s words describing the IAF action on a Jihad nursery in Balakot. On Wednesday, Sadiq claimed that the Government had pleaded with Parliamentary leaders that Abhinandhan be allowed to be set free. I remember External Minister Shah Mohamood Qureshi was present in the meeting, which the Prime Minister had refused to attend.
The Chief of Army Staff was also present, Sadiq had said on Wednesday. Chief of Army Staff came in with his legs shaking and sweat on his fore head, Qureshi told us, for God’s sake, let him (Abhinandhan) go back now, otherwise India will attack Pakistan at 9 pm, Sadiq quoted Qureshi as saying. Meanwhile, Pakistan Army spokesperson Major General Babar Iftikhar said that any attempt to link Abhinandhan’s release with anything other than the country’s mature response as a responsible state was disappointing and misleading.
