Severe cyclone Asani moves closer to Andhra-Odisha coast
Hyderabad: The Severe Cyclonic Storm Asani, over the West-Central and adjoining South Bay of Bengal, moved nearly Northwestwards with a speed of 16 km/h through the morning and lay centered over West-Central Bay of Bengal at around noon on Monday.
According to the IMD bulletin update issued on 3.30 pm Asani lay centered about 970 km Northwest of Car Nicobar (Nicobar Islands), 820 km West-Northwest of Port Blair (Andaman Islands), 450 km Southeast of Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh) and 610 km South of Puri (Odisha).
The approaching Asani has brought rainfall at a few places over Coastal Andhra Pradesh on Monday and warned that light to moderate rainfall at a few places with heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places is likely over Coastal Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday. Heavy rainfall at isolated places is likely over Coastal Odisha from Tuesday evening.
