Siddique (76) Saudi returnee died with Covid-19: India recorded first Covid-19 death

Bengaluru: A resident Siddique (76) of Kalaburgi of Karnataka, died on Tuesday night who is suffering from Covid-19, who returned from Saudi. The Karnataka health officers confirmed the first death of Covid-19 in India.

The Karnataka Health & Family Welfare Minister B. Sri Ramulu confirmed that the 76 year old religious leader was a positive case of Covid-19. In his twitter Minister said that the Karnataka Government had made necessary contact tracing, isolation and other measures as per protocol. Soon after the death, the last rites were conducted under strict medical supervision and monitored by the District Health & Family Welfare officers at Kalaburgi.

The diseased was admitted in a hospital following complaints of cough due to viral pneumonia after returning from Saudi Arabia. He had gone to Saudi Arabia on January 29th and returned a month later. On his return from Saudi Arabia he was down with fever and took treatment at a private hospital. He was at first admitted in a hospital at Kalaburgi, following complaints of cough and other symptoms. Later, on advice of doctors and family he had gone to Hyderabad, official said. Doctors screened him for suspected Corona virus, two days back. He however, didn’t respond to the treatment and died on Tuesday night at 11.00 pm.
