States Freed to Fix Zones: Lockdown 4.0 Extended upto May 31st
New Delhi: The Union government extended the lockdown 4.0 from May 18th to May 31st. the Union government imposed lockdown 1.0 on March 25th and it gave relaxations in the lockdown rules in lockdown 2.0, lockdown 3.0 respectively.
The union government suspended all flight services and train services, Metro services upto May 31st in the country. The government banned on political and religious meetings in the lockdown 4.0. The government allowed to sports stadiums and the players to practice in the stadiums without the spectators.
The government imposed restrictions on schools, colleges and all educational institutions as well as in the religious places upto May 31st. but the government gave relaxations in the lockdown 4.0, the government allow states considerable leeway in reopening market places in addition to standalone shops, allowed intra-state, and interstate passenger vehicle and bus travel with the 33% staff in restriction for businesses to provide a fillip to the economy.
The government also imposed restrictions on hotels and dines in at restaurants, shopping malls, educational institutions and large public gathering irrespective of zones. The government also said to the state governments to follow the three feet distance wearing face masks etc. The Union government allowed states to draw up lists of Red, Orange and Green zones, though in keeping with detailed guidelines provided by the centre.
Interstate bus travel will need consent of concerned states, which is not a hurdle as many are ready to permit this. Apart from delegating power to the states and UTs to demarcate zones, the guidelines also allow them to decide to what extent they want to regulate activities permitted by the MHA within their respective jurisdiction. States can toughen the rules but cannot dilute the guidelines.
