
TN Cadre IPS will be police observer for Dubbaka Assembly by-elections
Hyderabad: The Election Commission of India has appointed Tamil Nadu cadre IPS officer Saroj Kumar Thakur as a Police Observer for the by-elections in Dubbaka in Sangareddy district in Telangana.
The by-election is schedule to be held on November 3rd. The CEC in a press note said on Wednesday in exercise of the power conferred on it by Article 324 of the Constitution of India and section 20 B of the representation of the people act 1961, the CEC of India hereby appoints Saroj Kumar Thakur, IPS as police observer of the by-elections to the Dubbaka Assembly constituency.
Thakur is presently serving as SP (Cyber Crime), Division-3, Chennai. Thakur, a 2010 batch IPS officer, being sent as an observer assumes significance in the aftermath of a series of incidents including the seizure of Rs. 18. 70 lakhs by cops from a relative of BJP candidate M. Raghunandan Rao and BJP demanding deployment of central forces and suspension of Siddipet Police Commissioner Joel Davis.
