
Uttarakhand HC orders CBI probe against Uttarakhand CM
Dehradun: The Uttarakhand High Court ordered on Tuesday to file an FIR against in a case involving the Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat. In a rare instance of a High Court ordering a CBI probe into a corruption related matter against a Chief Minister when he was BJP incharge of Jharkhand.
Following charges by journalist Umesh Kumar Sharma, who alleged that an amount of Rs. 25 Lakhs was deposited into the bank account of a relative of Rawat when demonetization was announced in 2016 allegedly by a Ranchi based man to facilitate his appointment as the Chairman of Gau Seva Aayog of Jharkhand, said HC. It would be appropriated to unfold the truth and it would be in the interest of the state that the doubts are cleared. The Chief Minister Rawat moved the Supreme Court on Wednesday, challenging the High Court.
Rawat in a statement said that he was open to any kind of investigation. He will welcome the CBI in the state. I am hope to any kind of investigation. I am sure that the true facts will emerge, said the CM.
