Cyberabad police arrested five persons: cheating a doctor Rs. Five lakhs through online
Hyderabad: The Cyberabad police arrested five members gang on Wednesday who is cheating the public through sending Google docs, and committing online withdrawals from the customer accounts.
The police seized a cash of Rs. 2.66 lakhs, 12 gram Gold and six mobile phones from the. The gang is consisting of six members and operating from Jharkhand. The gang leader, prime accused Sanjay Kumar Mandal escaped from the police arrest. The remaining accuses Ram Kumar Mandal, Jamruddin Ansari, Jitendra Mandal, Birendra Kumar Mandal and Rohit Raj from Bihar. A women doctor received a text message on her mobile phone from CP-SBINBS informing that her debit card has been blocked for not completing her KYC details with SBI and a link was send for updating the details. This message came to her in October.
After seeing, she opened the link which directed to Google docs pages, where she submitted net banking credentials. The very next day around Rs. 5.29 lakhs was transferred into different E-wallets without her knowledge. She lodged a complaint soon after noticing the fraud. As per the Cyberabad CP V.C. Sajjanar, the accused used the money to purchase gift vouchers of a popular jewellery brand and air conditioner and also to pay electrical bill of various persons in Punjab. The gang was purchasing vouchers in order to delay tracking more over all other financial transactions carried out online were under the scanner. The CP said that Sanjay Mandal after duping the people with OTP and UPI transactions frauds had now trained his gang members.
