New Delhi: DCW Chief Swathi Maliwal urged President Ramnath Kovind to reject the mercy petition filed by one of the convicts in the Nirbhaya gang rape case. She also said that ensure that the accused are hang before December 16^th, the day the brutal crime was committed seven years ago.

         She was staging hunger strike since three days by demanding capital punishment for rapist within six months of their conviction. She also said in her letter to president the root cause for these crimes is the complete actions of fear of surtain and swift punishment in the minds of criminals.

     She was cited the Unnao gang rape and the Hyderabad “Disha’s” gang rape incident in her letter. Due to extremely slow justice process, no criminal is afraid to commit such gori crimes, she said in the letter.
