United oppositions appealed to the states say no to NRC and NPR: Sonia Gandhi
New Delhi: The opposition parties appealed to the 13 states who were opposed the NRC and also to say no to NPR as well, as it is a prelude to the NRC. The main opposition party Congress led the opposition parties meeting on Monday at New Delhi and made a resolution on the issues CAA, NRC and NPR.
The resolution adapted the meeting had been called to evolve and joint strategy on CAA and NRC. Six major opposition parties however skipped the meeting. The SP, BSP, AAP, TMC, Siva Sena and DMK were conspicuous by their absence. But Congress sources said there was some communication gap with parties like Siva Sena and SP and others were absent mostly because of local issues.
Congress President Sonia Gandhi said the BJP-led Government has let loose a reign of oppression spreading hatred and trying to divide people along sectarian lines and asserted that there was unprecedented turmoil in the country. She also alleged the Prime Minister and Home Minister were misleading the Nation on CAA and NRC. The two were contradicted their own statements of only weeks ago, and continued with their provocative statements. Talking about the Nation-wide spontaneous protest by youths supported by citizens from all walks of life, she added. The responsible police and the protesters in UP and in Delhi have been shockingly partisan and brutal. She also said that the real issue facing India was the collapse of economic activity and slowing growth and development affecting all sections of society, especially the poor and disadvantaged.
The opposition resolution must have made Pakistan happy, said Union Minister Ravi Shanker Prasad. The CAA is a chance to expose barbaric treatment of Minorities in Pakistan.
