Shabarimala: President Draupadi Murmu visited Swami Ayyappa at Shabarimala temple on Wednesday in a traditional dress code with Irumudi.

The Shabarimala temple Tantri Kandararu Mahesh Mohanaru welcome President Draupadi Murmu with Poornakumbha. The State Endowment Minister VN Vasanan also welcomed her. Earlier that, President Draupadi Murmu arrived in a special vehicle at 11 am to Pamba base camp. There she washed her feets in the river.

Later, she performed pooja at Ganapati Temple and she wore black saree and participated a traditional Kettukera ceremony. There the main priest of the temple prepared Irumudikettu. Along with President Murmu her son-in-law Ganesh Chandra Homebram and her security personnel prepared Irumudikettu. She wear Irumudikettu on head and she climbed 18 holy steps in the Ayyappa temple and had a darshan of Swamy Ayyappa. She also visited Malikapuram temple.

She made history by visiting Swamy Ayyappa temple as a first female President of India. And she is the second President to visit Swamy Ayyappa after the former President VV Giri who visited in 1970.
