KPCC President DK Shiva Kumar was unanimously elected as the new leader of the CLP

Bengaluru: KPCC President DK Shiva Kumar was unanimously elected as the new leader of the CLP on Saturday. He will sworn-in as 14th Chief Minister of Karnataka on 3rd June evening at Lokpal Bhavan.

Former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah proposed DK Shiva Kumar’s name as new CM in the CLP meeting held at the Vidhana Soudha on Saturday, Home Minister G Parameshwaran second proposed the name of DK Shiva Kumar as CM candidate. The meeting was chaired by KC Venugopal and AICC observer Randeep Singh Surjewala. CLP members elected DK Shiva Kumar as their leader in the House. Later, DK Shiva Kumar will inform the Governor to form the Government.

The election took place at the Convention Hall of the Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru in the presence of senior Congress leaders and legislators.
AICC General Secretary K.C. Venugopal said that DK Shiva Kumar had been unanimously elected as the new leader of the Congress Legislature Party.

Following the passage of the resolution, Surjewala announced a brief 10-minute recess. During the break, Siddaramaiah, Venugopal and Surjewala held consultations in the Chief Minister’s chamber. After the three leaders returned to the Convention Hall, the process of electing the new CLP leader was formally completed, with DK Shiva Kumar’s name announced.

Following his election, DK Shiva Kumar moved a resolution appreciating the services rendered by Siddaramaiah during his tenure as CM. He urged the legislators to support the resolution, which was adopted unanimously by the meeting.

The Congress announced that the swearing-in ceremony of DK Shiva Kumar as the next Chief Minister will be held on June 3 at the Glass House in Lok Bhavan.
