MeitY has summoned Meta’s global head of public policy over PM Modi Facebook post removal, rejects firm’s response
New Delhi: The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has summoned Meta’s global head of public policy on Tuesday. According to the Ministry sources Meta’s Global head of public policy due to the removal of a Facebook post by PM Narendra Modi addressed to the youth.
The remove video featured the PM’s message to young people, in which he promised stringent measures to curb paper leaks, said sources. This Facebook post was published on July 23rd during the student protests organized by the CJP.
Speaking to the media persons a Meta spokesperson responded to the controversy and said that the post was taken down inadvertently and has since been reinstated. The content was removed in error and has since been restored, he added. Meta informed the Government the post had been removed because of a glitch in its automated content filters, he said.
According to the Government Meta’s explanation was not reasonable and that deeper discussions with the company were needed. They added that the matter was far from settled.
