Vijayawada: “We Want Justice…We Want Justice” Grama Ward Sachivalayam employees’ chants reverberation at Lenin Dharna Chowk in Vijayawada on Sunday. The employees staged protest upto 9 pm with the chanting of “We Want Justice…We Want Justice” by using phone torch lights.

The police brutally behaved with the Grama Ward Sachivalaya employees who are protesting peacefully at Lenin Chowk to resolve their legitimate rights. The police dragged the employees and manhandled on some employees to foil their protest dharna. Police made house arrests, and also stopped the employees and their leaders in the midway of their journey to Vijayawada at all railway stations and bus stations.

Grama Ward Sachivalaya employees reached in a large crowd to the Lenin Chowk to stage their protest. They are demanding to notional increments, to reduce the work burden and promotion channel to the employees. They also demanded the Government not to treat them as second grade employees. They also demanded to scrap the G.O.Ms No. 11 which is issued by the Government assigning heavy duties to employees. They also demanded to take mercy appointments to the deceased employee family members, who died under the pressure of the Government.

Nearly 350 employees died within a span of nine months. They urged the Government to resolve their demands; otherwise they will not stop this agitation until unless CM or Ministers give written assurances to them. The police arrested the employees and shifted them to Machavaram, Ibrahimpatnam, Pedda Kakani, SN Puram, Uyyuru and Kankipadu police stations. The police didn’t give lunch to the arrested employees till evening. The police forcibly tried to arrest the employees at the dharna chowk and lifted them forcibly into the vehicles.

The employees scuffled with the police and not allowed the police vehicles to move from the dharna chowk. The employees sat on the road and stopped the vehicles. At 1.30 pm the police got extra forces and made a lathi charge on the employees. Many of the employees received injuries and some fell down on the road, the police behaved rudely on women employees and also dragged them by dragging their hair. The employees nearly staged dharna for eleven hours.

The police registered a case against the employees under section 35 (3). The police released the arrested employees at 9 pm by taking signatures and issuing 41 (a) notice to them and collected their Aadhaar Xerox copies. AP Gazzetted Employee Association President K Venkat Rami Reddy and CITU leaders consoled the arrested employees at the police stations.
