No Discrimination on Telangana: Nirmala

Hyderabad: The Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitaraman clarified that the 15th finance commission reduce the share of states in the divisible pool of central taxes from 42 to 41%.

She said to the media persons in a press conference in Hyderabad on Sunday, gave a strong report to the charges of CM KCR and other TRS leaders about the center not giving sufficient funds to Telangana States. She explained that the share was cut by 1% because the total number of states has reduced by one and bi-furcated it to two union territories J&K and Ladakh, were added.

The central govt has nothing to do in determining the devolution of taxes she said. The state govt’s allegations against central govt that it could not released the funds to several welfare schemes. For this Finance Minister clarified that according to law GST compensation was supposed to be released to states every two months from the GST cess.

Due to a short fall in GST cess the compensation was not released, she said and also added that no discrimination was done to Telangana in releasing the GST to GST on par with other states.
