One Baby Killed in Fire Accident at Shine Children’s Hospital

Hyderabad: One Infant died and five other infants injured in a fire accident in the neonatal ICU of Shine Children Hospital at LB Nagar on early hours of Monday. The baby’s were low birth weight and being treated for pneumonia.

           The fire accident occurred on the fourth floor of the shine children hospital. There are 42 children in the hospital and six are in the ICU. The fire started at the ICU’s refrigerator. A child of a pneumonia patient has burns all over his body, which was covered completely with soot. The baby’s father lodged a complaint with police against the hospital managing director Sunil kumar as well as the on duty doctor Mohan.

       The ICU had no smoke detectors or fire alarms. According to the fire officers in their preliminary investigation other parents rushed out with their baby’s in their arms. The remaining children were shifted to other hospitals for treatment.

      The medical and health minister Eetala Rajender ordered an enquiry about this incident and instructed the medical and health officer to submit the enquiry report within 24 hours. Police investigating the case.
