Country Wide Doctors Strike on 17th June: IMA

New Delhi/Kolkata: Indian Medical Association called a country wide doctors strike on June 17th. IMA extended its solidarity to the NRS Medical college junior doctors in West Bengal, who are agitating against the attacks on the doctors in NRS Medical college hospital.

        IMA secretary general condemned the attacks on the doctors of NRS Medical College in Kolkata. He also urged the Bengal govt to accept the residence doctors lawful demands unconditionally. He also request the govt. to take stringent action against the accused person. IMA started three day protest on Friday against the attacks on the junior doctors in West Bengal. IMA suggested the all PHDs to stop Medical services for 24 hours including op department expect emergency services.

       IMA wrote a letter to union home minister Amit Shah re-iterated its demand to bring a law to prevent the attacks on the doctors in govt. hospitals. It also suggested that the doctors should organize peace yatras and dharnas by wearing black badges in the protest programs.

       The junior doctors strike reached fourth day in West Bengal. The junior doctors are not cared the warnings of Chief Minister Mamatha Benarjee. Nearly 100 and above senior doctors in govt. hospitals sent their resignations to the director Medical education for the solidarity to the agitated junior doctors.
