
Sonia urges Modi to take immediate action On Black Fungus Drug shortage
New Delhi: AICC Chairperson Sonia Gandhi urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take immediate action on the acute shortage of vital drug Amphotericin – B needed to treat the Black Fungus.
Sonia Gandhi in her letter said, thousand Covid – 19 patients in the country have contracted Black Fungus, a deadly fungal infection, compounding the country’s troubles as it reels from the Covid – 19.
She pointed out that Black Fungus is not covered in Ayushman Bharat scheme that provides free health insurance to India’s poor and marginalized families and most other health insurance products. Sonia in her letter requested Modi to kindly take immediate action on this matter to bring relief to the large number of patients being afflicted by Black Fungus.
She asked the States to declare Black Fungus an epidemic under the Epidemic Diseases Act. This means all confirmed or suspected cases of Black Fungus, a condition seen in recovering Covid – 19 patients; have to be reported to the Health Ministry.
