Anantapur: Former Tadipatri MLA Kethireddy Peddareddy was forcibly taken by Tadipatri police from his residence at Tadipatri on Sunday, citing law and order problems.

Former MLA K Peddareddy was facing restriction entering Tadipatri since one year. His opponent Tadipatri Municipal Chairperson JC Prabhakar Reddy’s warning makes him not to enter into Tadipatri. JC Prabhakar Reddy openly said that if he return to Tadipatri we won’t spare him, we will kill him.

The Anatapur district police not provided adequate protection to K. Peddareddy, though he obtained AP High Court orders six months back. The police are saying if he returns to Tadipatri the law and order will be problems occur. At last K. Peddareddy entered the town on Sunday unannounced and went directly to his residence. Police, learning of his presence, reached the site in large numbers and attempted to escort him out. However, the former legislator refused to leave, asserting his right to remain.

A tense atmosphere prevailed in Tadipatri after former MLA Kethireddy Peddareddy returned to the town, defying repeated police restrictions and a long-standing political standoff.

His return followed a municipal survey of his house on Saturday amid allegations that it was built on government land. This prompted Peddareddy to make a surprise visit. By 11 am, police forcibly moved him to Anantapur.

Peddareddy decried the repeated denials of his entry as an insult to a former elected representative. The YSRCP leader also plans to approach the High Court with a contempt petition.
